This is a hidden gem. I had the 3 cheese enchiladas with onions rice and beans with taco. Chili gravy. Thought I was in South Texas. This is TexMex in the Midwest. Woohoo.

We order at least once or twice a month. It's not authentic Mexican food. Enchiladas have a very good brown gravy. My favorite, no other enchilada compares in my opinion.

I really enjoy the food here. The first basket of chips is complimentary and they are superbly made -- very crispy and unsalted, perfect for dipping. At lunch, you just pour your own hot sauce from a container on the table, which is a kind of spicy tomato sauce that you won't find at many other places. At dinner they bring out a bowl of a more traditional chunky salsa. The enchilada is probably my favorite dish, which is a tortilla filled with meat coated in a thin chili gravy and melted cheese. They recently introduced a mole burrito that's unlike anything I've ever had, but I'm becoming a fan. You can't go wrong with the tacos, whether they're beef or chicken, and they're overflowing with toppings to the point I make a tiny salad out of all the lettuce that falls out afterwards. The service can be a little slow when the restaurant gets too busy during rush hours (they seem a little understaffed), but so long as you avoid the crowds, I've never had a problem getting waited on in a timely manner. The food cooks quite quickly, to the point I rarely finish the chips before it arrives. It's hard to give a full review of Rudy Navarrete's without addressing the elephant in the room: yes, this is the second restaurant in the area to carry the name Navarrete's and the food at both places is pretty similar. Given that I've never found food like this outside of the Sioux City area, I'll gladly embrace that we have more than one restaurant that specializes in it. Both restaurants have differing strengths, too. This one is a little pricier than the other, but the decor is far nicer (there's a mural on the ceiling and TVs on the walls) and they have a larger menu selection, so it evens out. Oh, and for anyone who's still playing Pokemon Go, the aforementioned mural is a Poke Stop that usually attracts a handful of Pokemon, so you can restock on items and look out for Clefairy while you wait for your food.

We eat here sometimes but tonight was not that great. Wife had two enchiladas but the cheese was not melted all the way inside. She had one taco it was very greasy. I had the same but it was ok.The owner did take $4.50 off the check. Will be back.

Always amazing food. Sometimes the service can be a little lacking but it has improved tremendously over the past few years. The price and flavor of the food definitely make up for it.
